It looks like things are back to normal since I managed to get my schedule for this week and I have to say that I will be working twice with this coworker who is quite young. The only thing I have to say is that it is going to be another short week with a bit more shifts since my manager will be going away on her vacation right after me. But the vacation was nice since I got a chance to not only get away but to see how retail stores are ran in other provinces which was refreshing to see since I am always taking about the retail business in Alberta. It was nice to see how retail stores are run in British Columbia.
Now that I am a bit more refreshed I can go into the workplace with a little bit of a different mindset, that is if the mindset comes since there is a pattern I have observed, most people who come back from vacations often never have any different mindset because from what I have read, most people often fall back into old patterns of thinking and behavior in the workplace after vacationing to a certain place for a long time. Their thinking never really changes a whole lot since they often set into their own ways after coming back from their vacation. I think it's because of the eagerness that comes with coming back to their old jobs.
I could be in error with this but that has been my observation with most people I have worked with who end up coming back from their vacations or their time off of their work. It's a sad scenario but that is the reality whether we are aware of it or not. But I think that Gen-Xers are changing the scope of the workplace in which they end up taking more vacations that ever before due to the work/life balance that they desperately want to fight for and who can blame them for doing it? They are the generation that want a life outside the workplace since they see the workplace as a slave camp and are really striving to get into entrepreneurship.
