Giants' Brandon Crawford, Kevin Gausman join Buster Posey on NL All-Star roster

With the season the San Francisco Giants are having, having at least three All Stars seem well in order.

Shortstop Brandon Crawford and starting pitcher Kevin Gausman will make the trip to Denver for the midseason classic along with catcher Buster Posey, who will start the game, as announced Sunday by Major League Baseball.

Kevin Gausman joins Crawford, Posey as Giants All-Stars. It's Gausman's first trip to an ASG - and he's from the Denver area. He's not expected to be eligible to pitch because he's scheduled to start the Sunday before the game.

It's Crawford's third selection and Gausman's first. Gausman, 30, is having the second-best pitching campaign in the NL, only behind Mets superstar Jacob deGrom. He's 8-2 with a 1.68 ERA as he prepares to start against the Cardinals on Monday.

Crawford, 34, is pacing the Giants with 17 home runs and 52 RBI, and he still plays Gold-Glove level defense. Only Fernando Tatis has him more homers at shortstop in the NL.

They join Posey on the NL roster, making in impressive trio of veteran All Stars for the Giants during their unexpectedly spectacular season thus far. They have the best record in baseball at the halfway point, mere percentage points ahead of the rival Los Angeles Dodgers.
